Dr. Rao is the founding member of Atlanta Heart Associates, where he is serving as president and CEO for the last 30 years. Dr. Rao graduated from Osmania Medical College in Hyderabad, India. He moved to New York to complete his internship and residency at Woodhull Medical Center Downstate in Brooklyn, New York. His cardiology fellowship was completed at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease. In the last 30+ years, Dr. Rao has received several achievement awards from various organizations.
Dr. Rao has been a pillar of our community for over 30 years. He has served on Board of Directors for Henry County Health Department, Chamber of Commerce, and the Business Development Authority.
Dr. Rao has been instrumental in developing and expanding the cardiology programs at local hospitals. This includes Interventional Cardiology, Vascular Services, and Electrophysiology programs. He also served in various positions at area hospitals including Chief of Staff, Board of Trustees at Piedmont Henry, Cardiology Board at Emory Hospital and Southern Regional Hospital.
For 20-25 years Dr. Rao practiced Interventional Cardiology, along with some pacemakers. Now he practices mainly General Cardiology. He takes pride in maintaining quality controls across our entire organization. Dr. Rao sees patients in our Stockbridge and Riverdale offices.
