Dr. Schissler was born and raised in New York City. He earned a BS degree from CCNY, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa. He received his MD degree from the N.Y.U. School of Medicine. He was board certified in Internal Medicine in 1980 following residency at George Washington University Hospital. He has been in practice at this same office location since 1981.
He became board certified in Geriatric Medicine in 1988 when this subspecialty was formally recognized, and re-certified in 1998, 2008 and 2018. He has lectured on Geriatric Medicine to physicians, senior groups and radio audiences. He has repeatedly been named as a Washingtonian Top Doctor. He is married, has four children and three grandchildren, and works hard to stay aerobically fit. He loves geriatric practice, loves to teach and most importantly loves life!
