Edgar D. Staren, MD, PhD, MBA is the Statewide Director of Breast Surgery Services and a Surgical Oncologist at Arizona Oncology. He is also the President of TransMed7, LLC, a minimal access medical technology company addressing patient needs from diagnosis to therapy. In addition, he is a Clinical Professor in the department of surgery at the University of Arizona, Phoenix College of Medicine.
He is a graduate of Loyola University - Stritch School of Medicine and completed his residency and fellowship at Rush University Medical Center and Cook County Hospital. Dr. Staren also has a PhD in immunology/microbiology from Rush University and an MBA from Benedictine University. After his extensive training, Dr. Staren remained as a faculty member at Rush and held positions as Professor of General Surgery and Associate Dean for Medical Student Programs. Over the years he has served in a variety of roles, such as Professor, Chairman of Surgery, Medical Director, Chief Medical Officer, and CEO at various Colleges, Cancer Treatment Centers, and Research Institutes.
Dr. Staren is a current member of numerous academic organizations including the American Surgical Association, the Society of Surgical Oncology, and the American Society of Breast Surgeons. He is a member of the AOA Medical Honor Society and has been regularly listed in “Best Doctors in America” and “America’s Top Doctors for Cancer.” He has published nearly 300 scientific works including more than 150 manuscripts, 80+ abstracts, 45 book chapters, and 12 books.
