Jonathan Hwang, MD, serves as Professor and Chair of Urology, Urologic Oncology and Robotic Prostatectomy, MedStar Washington Hospital Center and Professor of Urology at Georgetown University School of Medicine.

 

Dr. Hwang has performed over 3,600 robotic surgeries including over 3,100 robotic prostatectomies to date, more than any other urologic surgeons in the DMV region.

Dr. Hwang earned his medical degree with an AOA honors distinction from Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. He completed residencies in Surgery and Urology at Boston University School of Medicine. He was a Clinical Fellow in the Urologic Oncology Branch at the National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland.

Dr. Hwang is the Associate Editor of the Korean Journal of Urology and serves as a Scientific Reviewer for the Journal of Endourology, Journal of Urology, Urologic Oncology, Medical Science Monitor and Department of Defense Prostate Cancer Research Program. He has authored numerous journal articles and book chapters for various urologic publications.

 

Under Dr. Hwang’s leadership, the Department of Urology has received America’s 100 Best Hopsitals for Prostate Surgery Award by Healthgrades in 2022 as well as “high performing” designation by U.S. News and World Report in 2020 and 2021.
