Sitara Ravikumar, MD, FACOG, is an obstetrician and gynecologist serving the Upper West Side of New York City and surrounding neighborhoods.
Dr. Ravikumar builds a strong bond with each of her patients and prides herself in practicing shared decision making, in order to provide patients with the highest quality of care and optimal patient satisfaction. She is well versed in preventative, diagnostic and therapeutic practices ranging from routine gynecological exams, cervical and breast cancer screening, in-office ultrasounds, to minimally invasive laparoscopic /hysteroscopic procedures and any major operative procedures. Dr. Ravikumar is a highly skilled surgeon trained with training in robotics. She is also well versed in many elective cosmetic procedures such as vaginal rejuvenation and labioplasty to name a few.
Dr. Ravikumar began her substantial education in medicine at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, Massachusetts. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from the Honors Commonwealth College with her bachelor’s in Science in May of 2010. She then moved to Wisconsin to earn her medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. She completed her training with a four-year obstetrics and gynecology residency at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in Newark, New Jersey, finishing in May of 2019.
Throughout her education and training, Dr. Ravikumar published several research publications with her peers regarding obstetrics and gynecology as well as microscopic skin diseases. She also helped with clinical trials regarding wound healing and early stages of cancer.
When she isn’t lending a compassionate ear to her patients or treating them with innovative and high-tech methods at Aster OB/GYN, Dr. Ravikumar enjoys giving back to her community as a volunteer. She has provided free healthcare for low-income households, educated members of her community about health and fitness, and tutored refugee students from around the world.
